Project Information
The expansion of Road 79, in the 8-km-long segment between HaSolelim in the west and Reineh in the East, to a dual-lane dual-carriageway road, as well as the paving of 1.5-km of secondary roads.
The project also included the construction of an interchange at the entrance to Nazareth, to allow easy access without disrupting traffic on the main road; installation of a traffic light in Tzippori Junction, and a new designated traffic light arm for entry to Ilut. The route included 4 traffic circles, 4 farm-vehicle passages, new culverts, and animal crossings.
Nazareth Interchange serves the residents of the area, including Ilut, HaGalil neighborhood, and industrial parks.
Before the interchange could be opened for traffic, complex work for replacing infrastructure and main systems in an urban area had to be completed. This work was conducted in collaboration with several municipal authorities.
Construction types
The road expansion project included many and varied types of construction:
· Construction and arrangement of agricultural roads, including temporary arrangements while work is underway
· Installation and maintenance of temporary traffic arrangements, including temporary lighting throughout the road in the entire project area and through all stages of construction
· Work for detection, protection, cancellation an/or replacement of existing infrastructure systems
· Dirt work, including digging and excavation, disposal of excess dirt, and filling
· Drainage arrangements for the roads and their surrounding
· Culverts; agricultural passages
· Retaining walls of different kinds
· Pavement, subbase, graded and crushed aggregate, and various asphalt layers
· Paint marking, traffic signage, construction signage and final safety measures, signage bridges
· Landscape development, including gardening, irrigation, landscape rehabilitation, and gardening maintenance
· Electrical work, including lighting and grounding
· Temporary and permanent traffic light fixtures
· Construction of new infrastructure
· Infrastructures for commercial communication and for traffic control system
· Bridges, including pedestrian access to bridge
