Project Information
To construct a designated public transport lane on Road 4 between Morasha Interchange and Geha Interchange, the existing road had been expanded along about 2.5 km in the north-bound roadway, and about 1.3 km in the south-bound roadway.
Several significant challenges were met and overcome during construction: the contractor had performed the road expansion in narrow strips of road (the width of a truck). Moreover, road repair work was conducted on traffic lanes that remained active throughout. Furthermore, there was no traffic connection between work on the north-bound roadway and work on the south-bound roadway. The contractor therefore had to prepare for simultaneous work on both of Road 4’s roadways.
Construction stages
The project consisted of several main stages:
· Work on the entry ramps to Road 4 to the south and Road 4 to the north
· Paving work, including full road paving and repair of existing road
· Creating temporary and final traffic arrangements, construction signage, traffic signage, paint, etc.
· Performing concrete work, including drainage canals, retaining walls, foundation piles, and extending an existing culvert
· Dismantling and demolition work – steel banisters, existing canals, curbstones, and asphalt pavement scarification
· Excavation and dirt fill
· Installing electrical systems, lighting, and communications infrastructure, drainage work, landscape development
· Installing signage bridges
Ashtrom Contracting strictly adhered to safety and professional standards throughout the road’s construction.
