The hotel grounds, encompassing 5.6 dunams, consist of a 9-story building of 206 rooms with a standard size of 36 sq.m. and suites of 60 sq.m. containing articles of art, as well as a dining hall, spa, gym, indoor pool, hamam, sauna, event hall and free parking. Among the hotel premises are also two buildings for conservation with 20 apartments in each, 2 building with luxury apartments, car parks and public areas. In all, the hotel contains 243 guest rooms, of which 23 are suites.
One of the hotel's most striking features is its rooftop pool atop the tenth floor – it overlooks a stunning landscape of Jerusalem surrounded by its hills.
Jerusalem Orient Hotel is located at the historic Emek Refaim ("Valley of the Giants") Street, at the heart of the German Colony, which was established by German Templers in the 19th century. The hotel is centrally located, near the old railway Tahana complex, Liberty Bell Park and Mishkenot Sa'ananim ("Peaceful Dwellings") neighborhood.
Construction and development with conservation
The work on the hotel was a combination of a modern construction method with a traditional construction style used in historic buildings. The construction of the hotel included masonry cladding and extensive development and interior work. Various building materials were used, including wood, glass and various metals, and these were integrated in oriental themed elements.
Throughout the project work, Ashtrom Contracting through its subsidiary Ashtrom Engineering and Construction, took great care in the design and construction, with a great emphasis on the finished product throughout the construction stages.
